What Claude can do with Google Analytics

GA4 is not hard because the data is hard. It's hard because you have to already know which of forty reports answers your question. Claude doesn't need the report — it needs the data, and datanephew hands it over.

Reading your data
  • Traffic, sources and behaviour

Sessions, users, channel, landing page, device, country and conversions over any date range you say out loud — "last month", "since the redesign", "the two weeks after the newsletter".

  • Search cross-referenced against traffic

GA4 tells you a page lost visitors; Search Console tells you whether it lost rankings or lost clicks at the same ranking. Those are different problems with different fixes, and Claude reads both at once.

  • Session memory

What you looked at last week is still there next time, so you can ask "is that traffic drop still happening?" and get an answer that knows what "that" was.

Making changes Pro
  • Fix a broken measurement setup

Correct a misconfigured GA4 data stream or conversion event once Claude has found the reason your numbers look wrong.

See it in action

A real Google Analytics question, start to finish

You talk to Claude. Claude steps out to datanephew when it needs your actual Google Analytics data.

  • Why did my traffic drop last week?
  • Which pages actually bring in enquiries, not just visits?
  • Is my mobile traffic converting worse than desktop?
  • Did the newsletter I sent on Tuesday move anything?
  • What was my best month this year, and what was different about it?
  • Are people finding me through search or somewhere else?
  • Which landing page should I fix first?

Setup: authorise, paste, ask

Most Google Analytics MCP setups you'll find want you to clone a GitHub repo, install dependencies, manage credentials in a config file, and keep a local server running on your own machine. This one doesn't.

1

Authorise Google Analytics

Sign in with Google. Read-only access to the GA4 properties you pick.

2

Paste one connector URL into Claude

Add your personal connector URL in Claude's settings. That's the whole install — nothing runs on your machine, and there's nothing to keep alive or update.

3

Ask

Open a conversation and ask about your Google Analytics data the way you'd ask a person. Claude remembers what you looked at last time.

What's free and what's Pro

Your own numbers are free. Anything about data you don't own — competitors, keywords you're not ranking for yet, who links to whom — is Pro.

Google Analytics is free, permanently
  • Everything on this page costs nothing. Google Analytics reads data you already own, so it stays on the free tier.
  • No credit card, no trial clock, no row limits.
  • Pro ($9/mo) adds research into data you don't own — keyword demand, competitor rankings, backlink profiles.
  • Pro also lets Claude act on what it finds: page titles, meta descriptions, tracking tags, sitemap submission.

Google Analytics and Claude — common questions

Is there an official Google Analytics MCP server?

Google ships one, and it's known for wrong date ranges and a hard 1,000-row limit. datanephew was built specifically around those gaps, and it reads Search Console, Bing, page speed and technical health in the same conversation rather than GA4 alone.

Do I need to run anything locally?

No. There's no repo to clone, no Python environment, no local server to keep alive. You sign in with Google and paste one connector URL into Claude.

Does datanephew store my analytics data?

No. Every answer is fetched live from Google when you ask, and forgotten afterwards. The only thing kept between sessions is the short summary you ask Claude to remember.

Is Google Analytics free on datanephew?

Yes, permanently. Your own numbers are free. You only pay when a question goes outside data you own.

Which GA4 properties can Claude see?

Only the ones you select when you connect. Access is read-only, and you can revoke it from your Google account at any time.
