What Claude can do with WordPress

Every free thing datanephew does to a website applies to a WordPress one: it reads the rendered page, checks the schema, follows the redirects, scores the speed, and pulls the traffic and rankings. None of that needs a plugin, an application password, or a WordPress connection at all.

Reading your data
  • Full page audit

Claude fetches the rendered page, reads its title, headings, meta description and structured data, and flags what a search engine will make of it.

  • Technical health

Sitemap versus actual index coverage, redirect chains — including the double redirect a permalink change loves to leave behind — and pages Google never crawled.

  • Speed on the real page

Core Web Vitals for the template a plugin just slowed down, with the specific asset responsible.

  • Traffic and rankings for that site

GA4 and Search Console for the same WordPress site, read in the same conversation as the audit.

Coming soon
  • Publishing and editing posts from Claude

Creating and updating WordPress posts is in testing and is not available yet. When it ships it will be a Pro capability. Wix and Joomla publishing are live today.

See it in action

A real WordPress question, start to finish

You talk to Claude. Claude steps out to datanephew when it needs your actual WordPress data.

  • Audit my WordPress homepage — what would a search engine see?
  • Did that plugin update slow my site down?
  • My permalinks changed — did I break any redirects?
  • Are all my blog posts actually indexed?
  • Which of my posts are losing rankings?
  • Is my structured data set up correctly?
  • Which page should I rewrite first?

Setup: authorise, paste, ask

Most WordPress MCP setups you'll find want you to clone a GitHub repo, install dependencies, manage credentials in a config file, and keep a local server running on your own machine. This one doesn't.

1

Authorise WordPress

Nothing required for the free audit. Publishing will use an application password.

2

Paste one connector URL into Claude

Add your personal connector URL in Claude's settings. That's the whole install — nothing runs on your machine, and there's nothing to keep alive or update.

3

Ask

Open a conversation and ask about your WordPress data the way you'd ask a person. Claude remembers what you looked at last time.

What's free and what's Pro

Your own numbers are free. Anything about data you don't own — competitors, keywords you're not ranking for yet, who links to whom — is Pro.

WordPress is free, permanently
  • Everything on this page costs nothing. WordPress reads data you already own, so it stays on the free tier.
  • No credit card, no trial clock, no row limits.
  • Pro ($9/mo) adds research into data you don't own — keyword demand, competitor rankings, backlink profiles.
  • Pro also lets Claude act on what it finds: page titles, meta descriptions, tracking tags, sitemap submission.

WordPress and Claude — common questions

Do I need to install a WordPress plugin?

No. Everything on the free tier reads your site the way a search engine does, from outside. There is nothing to install.

Can Claude publish a post to my WordPress site?

Not yet. WordPress publishing is in testing. Wix and Joomla publishing are live now on Pro, and WordPress will follow.

Can Claude edit my page titles and meta descriptions?

On Wix and Joomla, yes, on Pro. For WordPress that arrives with publishing.

What can Claude do for a WordPress site today?

Audit any page, follow redirects, check index coverage and sitemaps, score Core Web Vitals, and read that site's Google Analytics and Search Console — all free.

Does this work with WooCommerce?

The website audit and analytics side works on any WordPress site, WooCommerce included. A dedicated store connector is on the roadmap, not released.
