What Is IndexNow?
A way to tell search engines about a new or changed page instantly, instead of waiting for them to notice.
What it means
IndexNow is a protocol that lets a website ping search engines the moment a page is published, updated, or removed, rather than waiting for a crawler to happen to revisit it. It's supported by Bing, Yandex, Seznam, and Naver — notably not by Google, which uses its own separate submission tools.
Why it matters
Without IndexNow, a new or updated page can sit unnoticed by search engines for days or weeks, especially on a smaller site that crawlers visit infrequently. For time-sensitive content — a sale, an event, a correction — that lag can mean the update simply doesn't show up in search when it matters.
ask datanephew
Can datanephew actually submit my pages through IndexNow?
Yes — datanephew can ping IndexNow directly, so after you publish or update a page you can ask it to submit that URL right away.
Does this help my Google rankings too?
Not directly — Google doesn't participate in IndexNow. Ask datanephew about your Search Console status if you want to know how quickly Google specifically has picked up a change.
