How to Verify Your Site in Bing Webmaster Tools

Before Bing will show you any search data about your site, you need to prove you actually own it. There are a few ways to do that, and the fastest one usually piggybacks off Google Search Console if you already have that set up.

1. Go to Bing Webmaster Tools and sign in with a Microsoft account.
2. Add your site's URL.
3. Choose a verification method: import from Google Search Console (fastest if you already use it), add an XML file to your site, add a meta tag to your homepage, or add a DNS record.
4. Complete whichever method you picked and confirm verification in Bing's dashboard.
5. Give it a few days. Bing reports on data from the verification date onward, so the dashboard stays thin at first.
6. Optional: connect the verified site to datanephew, so Bing's search data sits alongside your Google numbers instead of in a separate tab. It's a sign-in and picking the site from a list, and access is read-only.

I already have Search Console set up — do I still need to do all this?

Importing from Search Console is the quickest path and skips the file/meta-tag/DNS steps entirely — pick that option in Bing Webmaster Tools if it's available to you.

How do I know verification worked?

Bing's dashboard will show your site as verified once it's done. After that, connect it in datanephew and ask for a quick check that Bing data is coming through.
