Primary vs. Secondary Conversion Goals
Which of your tracked actions actually drive automated bidding, versus which are just observed.
What it means
Not every conversion action you track is used the same way. Primary actions are the ones automated bidding actually optimizes toward, and they're what shows up in your main "Conversions" numbers. Secondary actions are recorded for visibility only — they show up under "all conversions" but don't influence bidding unless you deliberately build a custom goal around them.
Why it matters
Having too many unrelated actions marked as primary spreads the bidding signal across mixed outcomes instead of one clear goal, which can make automated bidding optimize toward a blend of things you don't equally care about. Keeping only the outcome that actually matters marked as primary gives cleaner, more effective optimization.
ask datanephew
Which of my conversion actions are actually driving my bidding?
Ask datanephew to list your conversion actions and which ones are marked primary. If several unrelated actions are all primary at once, that's worth reconsidering.
Can I track something without it affecting my bidding strategy?
Yes — mark it secondary. Ask datanephew to check whether an action is currently primary or secondary before you assume it's influencing results.
