Target ROAS (Smart Bidding)
Automated bidding that aims for a specific return on ad spend, and needs real conversion values to work.
What it means
Target ROAS automatically sets bids to try to hit a target return on ad spend — for example, aiming to generate $4 in revenue for every $1 spent. Unlike Target CPA, it requires value-based conversion data: each conversion needs a real, differentiated dollar value attached, not just a count.
Why it matters
If every conversion is recorded with the same flat value (or no value at all), Target ROAS doesn't have anything meaningful to optimize toward and will behave unpredictably. It only makes sense once accurate, varied order or lead values are actually flowing into your conversion data.

Should I switch to Target ROAS?
Ask datanephew whether your conversion values actually vary and are being recorded accurately. If they're missing or all the same, Target ROAS won't have real signal to work with yet.
