What it means
A "Like" used to mean someone followed your Page automatically. Facebook decoupled the two some time ago: someone can like your Page without following it, and can follow it without ever clicking Like. Only follows determine whether your posts show up in someone's feed.
Why it matters
If you're watching your Like count as a proxy for how many people see your content, you're watching the wrong number. A Page can have a large Like count but a much smaller, more relevant follow count — and it's the follow count that actually predicts your organic reach.
