Landing page

The first page a visitor sees when they arrive at your site.

What it means

A landing page is just the entry page of a session — wherever a visitor's click actually lands, whether that's your homepage, a blog post, or a page you built specifically for an ad. It's not a page type, it's a role a page plays for that visit.

Why it matters

The same page can be a landing page for a search visitor and a second stop for someone browsing your site. Landing page performance tells you how well a page holds up as a first impression, which is a different question than how it performs overall.

ask datanephew

Which of my pages actually work as landing pages?

Datanephew can rank your landing pages by traffic, bounce rate, and conversions together, so you see which ones are pulling their weight and which ones are just getting clicks.

Should every page be a good landing page?

Not necessarily — some pages are meant to be found deep in a visit. Ask datanephew which of your pages get the most direct or search traffic, and focus there first.
