Google Posts (Updates) Explained

Short updates you can publish directly to your Google Business Profile, similar to a social media post.

What it means

Google Posts (labeled "Updates" in some dashboards) let you share offers, events, or news directly on your Business Profile — they show up right in the search panel, and only the first roughly 80 characters are visible before someone has to click "more."

Why it matters

Posts are one of the few ways to control what a customer sees the moment they find you on Google, but they expire after a set period and a stale or empty feed can make an otherwise solid profile look abandoned.

ask datanephew

Can datanephew publish Google Posts for me?

Not today — Business Profile management isn't connected yet. It's on the roadmap, and once it ships, datanephew will be able to help manage posts alongside your other marketing content.

How often should I actually post?

Aim for at least weekly — write your key message in the first sentence, since that's what shows before a customer has to tap through.
