How to Optimize Your Google Business Profile
The handful of profile details that most affect whether local customers find and choose you.
A verified profile is just the starting point — how complete and active it is affects both how often it shows up and whether people click through once they see it.
Steps
- Confirm your name, address, phone, hours, and website are all accurate and consistent with what's on your actual site.
- Set the most specific primary category that fits your business, and add relevant secondary categories.
- Add real photos of your location, products, or team — profiles with photos get more clicks than ones without.
- Fill in the products/services sections with a short description of what you offer.
- Post a Google Post at least weekly and reply to every review you get.
- Check back monthly to keep hours and photos current, especially around holidays.

Can datanephew audit my profile completeness?
Not yet — that requires the Business Profile connector, which is on datanephew's roadmap. Today it can help you understand how your website traffic and search rankings are doing, which is a related but separate signal.
What matters most if I only have time for one thing?
Accurate hours and a fast reply to reviews tend to have the biggest impact on customer trust — start there.
